* This text grew out of an invitation to present at a session of the American Academy of Management on practice theory organized by Michael Smets and Deborah Anderson in Chicago, 2018, then presented at the seminar “Towards a Practice-Driven Institutionalism” organized by Mike Lounsbury at the Alberta School of Business in Edmonton in December, 2018. This paper is a substantial revision of the paper published in m@n@gement, 2018, vol. 21(4): 1357–1404, before the seminar. I have read, and more importantly, re-read since then.
